The Marina facility has been gradually developed since the 1960s. The Banagher Railway Station, which was the terminus for the Clara to Banagher branch line from 1884 to the 1960s, occupied the area where the private residence, the boatyards and the sub-aqua clubhouse now stand. Nowadays, this area is a bustling place providing safe moorings for pleasure boats and privately-owned cruisers. Situated midway along the Shannon, Banagher is the ideal place to begin a cruising holiday. Facilities nearby include water sports, playground, walking track, and the essentials are catered for in a new shower block and toilet facilities.
