About: The Slieve Bloom Storytelling Festival is an annual event held in the Slieve Bloom Mountains of Laois & offaly, ireland typically taking place in mid November. The festival features local storytelling, music, dance & song celebrating the oral traditions and folklore of the region. The festival aims to revive the tradition of storytelling, which historically occured by thye rideside in “rambling houses across the area. There will be Interactive performances where guests are encouraged to share stories, songs or music. There will be some workshops at it & performances by expert storytellers aimed at both adults & children. Slieve Bloom Storytelling is up to recent times happened in a very natural way by the fireside in rambling houses all over Laois & Offaly. The rambling houses are no more, but the interest in the stories is still alive.
