The floating concrete swimming pool located in the River Shannon is one of Ireland’s most unusual pools and a fantastic opportunity for outdoor swimming in Ireland.
Outdoor Swimming Pool Upgrade
During the Summer of 2025, Banagher Swimming Pool will be upgraded. What started out as a simple timber structure on floating barrels, advanced into a floating concrete frame and the new proposed design aims to offer a large 6mtr wide walkway, poolside seating, canoe / kayak / paddleboard launch pad, steps and a ramp for safe pool access. Two new gangways will be installed leading up to the pool and a new tiered seating with stairs and handrails are to be installed in the front of the pool area.
To fund this exciting project there is a number of events and donation methods to suit all budgets.
Anyone who supports any amount will be guaranteed life time membership and access to the pool… 😜

The Shannon Bank Battering |

J.J Hough’s Singing Pub will host a White Collar Boxing night in aid of Banagher Shannon Bank Park Development.
The theme of this contest is grudge matches, so anyone you have had a falling out with or have a rivalry with, we can settle it on the ring. It could be a rival Shop, a bad neighbour, a bully, a competitor etc.
We will also welcome the return of the punching priest, Fr Jalapeño Pepper who will be battling for the souls of mankind versus a man of a different cloth.

Located in the park, just in front of the Martello Coffee Dock and monitored by CCTV, is an tap and go donation device, just select your amount, tap and your done.
Nameplates
If you would like a more permanent show of your donation towards the pool upgrade, nameplates can be purchased and depending on the bracket, will be placed along different locations of the pool. The nameplates will be of aluminum design on a corten steel backdrop, with each donation bracket grouped together and labelled.
