About: The 2026 Slieve Bloom Walking Festival was a special edition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Slieve Bloom Walking Club. It will be running from Saturday May 2nd to Monday May 4th (the May Bank Holiday weekend), the festival features a variety of guided, multi-grade hikes across the spectacular Slieve Bloom Mountains. the festival offers Grad A, B & C Walks. The C and B walks were easy – to – moderate, showcasing vibrant bluebells in Capard Woodlands and Brittas Lake, while the more strenuous Grade A hikes challenged experienced walkers with longer distances and climbs. Hikes were led by friendly, experienced local walk leaders who provided engaging commentary on local history, geology, flora and fauna. The weekend included walks departing from Clonaslee Community Centre in County Laois, with Monday’s final 12km Conlawn Hill Route starting from The Deadman’s in Ballyfin. While the main bank holiday festival for 2026 has already passed, the club hosts regular guided treks throughout the year. If you are looking to join their ongoing calender of walks, you can find annual membership details and upcoming events on the Slieve Bloom or check regionat updates via Laois Tourism.
